The Bamboo Bubby Bag has been designed specifically for babies with eczema and can provide relief from painful (and upsetting!) eczema flare-ups. Owner, Kelly Northey, embarked on a fruitless search for a product that she could put her 6 month old son to sleep in that was soft and lightweight and would also prevent him from scratching his already broken and painful skin in his sleep. At a loss, she designed and created what would become the original prototype for her Bamboo Bubby Bags. The results were astounding – literally overnight her son’s access to his sore skin was minimised which gave it more chance to heal. After testing countless different fabric sources and combinations and refining her original design she released her Bamboo Bubby Bag to the market and has since become a popular choice for parents of babies suffering from eczema worldwide.
When Kelly contacted me to see if I would like to view her product I grabbed the chance with both hands! To be able to offer some relief to parents of babies with eczema is very valuable and having read her website and product information, I was keen to see if the real thing was as good as it sounded. So, without further ado; my review of the Bamboo Bubby Bag.
Design and Functionality
First up, the thing that most impressed me about the Bamboo Bubby Bag was that the unique Adjust-A-Sleeves Kelly designed result in a garment that is suitable for use from 0 to 2+ years old. I find it so tiresome when companies leave you little choice but to buy a new product every three months because babies grow so quickly. I think that this element of the design shows that Bamboo Bubby genuinely wants to help families gain relief from eczema, rather than try to make a buck wherever they can. Of course, the adjustable sleeves are going to be more complicated than normal long sleeves but I deliberately had a go at adjusting them myself without watching the instructional video on her website. It was easy! If I can work it out, you can too – trust me. The information included with the bag gives the link that customers can visit to view the online instructional video should they get a bit stuck, which I thought was very helpful.
With a recommended retail price (RRP) of $69.95 I don’t feel as though this product is cost prohibitive at all (in fact, I actually think it’s a bit of a bargain – read on to see why!). The big player in the baby sleeping bag industry is inarguably Grobag and if I were to walk into a store and buy one at its RRP, I’d be looking at $74.99 for an equivalent TOG rating (international standard measurement of a blanket or sleeping bag’s warmth) in a size for a baby 0-6 months. Understandably, the price goes up as the product gets larger so with the next two sizes at $79.99 and $84.99 (for sizes 6-18 months and 18-36 months respectively) I’d be looking at a total investment of $239.97 to take a baby through from 2 months to 2+ years. Suddenly $69.95 is looking pretty cheap, hey?! And that $239.97 investment isn’t even addressing eczema relief, that’s just for a cute (but average) sleeping bag.
Considering the Bamboo Bubby Bag is a highly specialised product that helps relieve babies suffering from eczema I was definitely expecting its price point to be a lot higher. Further savings can be made by purchasing a twin pack of bags at the price of $130.
Throughout this whole process Kelly has been nothing but a pleasure to deal with. I know what you’re thinking – of course she was, she wants a good review! But no, I’m definitely very good at reading people and she’s the real deal; quick to get back to me, always very friendly and she genuinely wants to help families suffering as she did. She is so certain that families will be thrilled with her product that she offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee – and that’s pretty rare these days. If customers are unhappy with their purchase they can return the product and get a full refund of purchase price or an exchange, no questions asked.
Another product in her range worth mentioning are her adorable ScratchMeNot sleeves (as pictured at the top of this post on my baby girl, Annabel). These practical and cute sleeves help to prevent your baby or toddler from scratching their sore skin during the day; they’re made of a gorgeous combination of bamboo, organic cotton, silk and lycra and feature flip mittens at the end that can be closed to stop scratching or left open to allow for hands free time. They come in a range of funky fabrics designed to complement your child’s clothing. Fashionable and practical – tick, tick!
Overall I was really impressed with the products I received from Bamboo Bubby and would not hesitate to recommend them to any parents battling their baby’s eczema. Go like her Facebook page here to keep up to date with her products and the latest news on eczema relief.
Disclaimer: I received no monetary compensation for this post and there’s definitely no backdoor sneaky business going on. I did receive product samples which I can keep and so would be happy to show you in person if possible.
